Exosomes
An emerging area of research involving cell-derived extracellular vesicles. Preparations and application routes vary, so the exact product and intended use need to be established before a treatment can be described.

Your care, step by step.
Discuss the aim
Establish the concern and consider established alternatives.
Confirm the preparation
Identify the product, origin and permitted route of use.
Decide on suitability
Review the evidence, limitations and product-specific risks.
Agree next steps
Proceed only once the plan is confirmed; otherwise choose another approach.
What to plan for
The clinic's product and application protocol are being defined. Ask about availability, evidence, product status and risks. There is no standard promised result or published session package here.
The sequence, session count and intervals are agreed individually. This is a pathway, not a fixed calendar.
An informed choice.
What the evidence can tell you — and where its limits matter.
Sources checkedEvidence & expectations
A 25-person split-face trial investigated a particular exosome gel after CO₂ laser for acne scars. It does not establish the effectiveness of an injectable exosome product, a different source material or a different indication.[1]
Preparation & recovery
There is no standard recovery or session count that can be assigned to the word “exosomes”. The exact preparation, route, sterility, evidence and lawful intended use need to be established first.[2]
Risks & limitations
The FDA states that there are no FDA-approved exosome products. This is a US regulatory statement, not a determination of Portuguese authorisation. Marketing a product as regenerative does not itself establish safety or clinical benefit.[2]
Compare your options
Begin with the diagnosed concern and compare established options. Evidence for an experimental post-laser gel should not be used to promise faster recovery from any laser or to justify an unspecified injection.[1]

How we use evidence
A controlled trial compares interventions in defined groups; an uncontrolled cohort cannot, alone, establish causality. A review depends on the quality of its included studies. We distinguish these sources from manufacturer information and identify when findings do not directly apply to the platform or protocol.
The date records when sources were checked for this guide. It is not a statement of individual clinical review, product authorisation or confirmation of the clinic’s available configuration.
This guide supports a conversation with your clinician. It does not determine your suitability or replace individual aftercare instructions.
Regulatory sources describe their own jurisdictions; a US authorisation or warning does not determine a product’s legal status in Portugal.
Start with your priorities.
Discuss suitability, alternatives, expected recovery and costs at your medical assessment.
